It all
started whith a bunch of friends who loved blues music. This bunch
met freqently to worship the music and we often travelled
to bluesfestivals. We also organize bluesconserts in Kjöpsvik. As
time went by, our leader Freddy Iversen, got many contacts
among blues artists, and at the same time the interest for our
concerts grew. The idea about a blues club grew and the 16th of
September 2000 Kjöpsvik bluesclub was formally established.
Kjøpsvik Bluesclub is a small club with around 70 members. Our club
gigs is held in Walters Kro and Stetind Hotel. We also
cooperate with Tysfjord
Turistsenter located to our neighbour village. We normally
arrange 1 gig, every month. We do all kinds of blues: Delta Blues,
Jump Blues, Texas Blues, Chicago Blues, Bluesrock, Rock
"n" Roll, Rockabilly and even some Zydeco. We normally
arrange gigs in the Weekend, but sometimes we organize gigs in the
midweeks. The crowd is very good and the atmosphere can become very
hot, aspecially at Walters Kro. Walters Kro is a little venue with
the capacity of 110 people. Stetind Hotel is bigger with a capacity
of 250 people. Our biggest venue is Tysfjord
Turistsenter with 450 people.
Our first visitor was THE
INSTIGATORS from Sweden. This band have become good friends
of us and have played here several times since then. Really nice
guys! The gig was a success. Then KENT DUCHAINE
arrived and he manage to bring us his fine interpretation of the
Delta Blues. Success again! And then things happened real fast. And
the 16. September 2000 we was establish as a bluesclub and also a
member of the Norwegian blues union. Sice then we have organized a
lot of concerts with great success. Kjöpsvik
bluesclub organized its first bluesfestival (cement-blues 2002) in
July 2002 with great success. The bands was really great and the
public was nice. The hole atmosphere was good and Kjøpsvik was
rockin the hole weekend!
 Kjöpsvik
is a small industrial place about 100 kilometers south of Narvik.
The place is adm. center of the municipality Tysfjord, with the
municipalities Ballangen as nabours in North and Hamaröy in south.
Kjöpsvik has about 1200 inhabitants which is about half of the
population in Tysfjord. Tysfjord is well known for Killerwhales
and fishing. We also have the Northern Lights (aurora
borealis) in the wintertime and the Midnight Sun in
the summertime. We also have the worlds northernmost cement factory.
